Photo Galleries
Prior to creating a new photo gallery or adding new photos to an existing photo gallery, you will want to ensure that you have descriptive captions for every photo you will be adding.
The photo gallery content type uses CDN PXL so you do not need to resize the image prior to uploading it to the T4 Media Library.
Note: Please include a descriptive element, the date, and the word "gallery" in the file name of all gallery photos that are added to the T4 Media Library. (ie. residents-by-fire-gallery-7-17-14)
To create a new photo gallery:
- Create a new folder titled "Gallery" in the Media Library folder for the program.
- Use the following steps to add all of your photos to the new "Gallery" folder in the Media Library (Note: only add photos for the photo gallery into this Media Library folder, no additional files should be added to this folder).
- Click Add Media (upper right corner).
- Drag and drop the image file into the gray box, or click on the gray box in order to choose an image file from your computer.
- Add the caption for the photo in the description/alt text field.
Note: You cannot use quotation marks or parenthesis in a photo caption, or the photo gallery will not display on the website even after it is published. - Click Save changes.
- Navigate to the T4 page that you'd like to add the photo gallery.
- Click Add Content (upper right corner).
- Click Gallery.
- Add "Gallery" as the content name (or something similarly descriptive).
- Add a heading for the Gallery (often "A day in the life" for Resident or Fellow life pages but could be something else).
- (Optional) Add a few sentences to describe the gallery.
- Click Select media.
- Navigate to the Media Library folder that you placed your gallery images.
- Select an image (any image - doesn't matter which one).
- Click Save changes.
Photo galleries cannot be seen in a preview so you will need to publish the gallery and then go back and check to ensure everything looks the way it should after it publishes (usually about an hour later).
