Program Evalution and Continuous Quality Improvement (PE-CQI)
The Program Evaluation & Continuous Quality Improvement (PE-CQI) domain provides strategic direction and operational guidance for refining and implementing the Education Shield’s Program Evaluation Framework. This comprehensive system determines the value and effectiveness of Mayo Clinic’s diverse health professions and biomedical research programs.
The Program Evaluation and CQI domain works towards enabling informed decisions by:
- Creating the Program Evaluation Framework of quality metrics with areas of educational effectiveness to monitor key performance indicators over time, measure the impact of improvement efforts, and support accreditation regulatory requirements.
- Developing an inventory of data sources corresponding to the quality metrics in the above evaluation framework.
- Leading MCCMS survey efforts, such as the college-wide learner climate survey
Recent milestones and outcomes
- Develop the MCCMS Program Evaluation Framework
- Design and implement the MCCMS standardized student of course evaluation
- Lead the College’s Program Evaluation SubCommittee which meets monthly and reviews needs and priorities for program evaluation as well as accreditations
- Ongoing maintenance and review of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accreditation requirements
- Enhance MCCMS data ecosystem to eventually support customizing instruction to individual learner needs (precision education), and creating data-informed pathways from education to employment
- Support evaluation and continuous improvement capacity-building among key staff at the school level
- Maintain ongoing, close collaboration with key stakeholders across the Enterprise and the Education Shield, including Education Technology Center, ERA, CALC, and others.
What we can do for you
We view evaluation as a collaborative undertaking. Our Evaluation team partners with college- and school-level stakeholders to identify program planning and evaluation goals and to jointly design plans that can be utilized for decision-making and for tracking the impact of educational programs and initiatives.
We can help you:
- Clarify desired program outcomes
- Design effective and efficient data collection methods and processes, including surveys, focus groups, and tracking systems
- Assess the overall value, effectiveness, and impact of educational programs using qualitative and quantitative data collection methods
- Ascertain how well the current program is meeting its goals and stakeholders' needs
- Design and utilize data dashboards to track progress toward goals and to assist in decision-making
- Understand how different student and/or faculty groups experience and respond to the learning environment
- Identify program areas for improvement, replacement, or further development
Evaluation should play a key role in program planning, management, and improvement. Visit the resource catalog to access courses and resources for evaluation.
