How to Add a Studio Site - Social Media Content Type

Use the Studio Site - Social Media content type to add social media icons linked to your social media accounts on your Studio Site webpage. In this module, you will learn how to add social media icons to your page.

Learning objectives

  • Understand the purpose of the social media content type
  • Learn how to use the social media content type to link to social accounts

Instructions

From the T4 Site Structure, navigate to the page you are updating.

How to add a social media content type

  1. Click the Add Content button.
  2. Select Studio Site - Social Media from the list of content types.
  3. Use the following content elements (all are optional):
    • Name: Add descriptive name of content type to be used within T4 Site Structure.
    • Heading: Optional, adds bold heading text above social media icons/links.
    • Add the URL for the social media accounts you'd like to link to. Be sure to use the URL (https://instagram.com/mayocliniccollege) not the username (@mayocliniccollege):
      • Facebook
      • Instagram
      • Twitter/X
      • YouTube
      • LinkedIn
    • Output on Full-Width Page: Select "Yes" only if using content type on a page with a Studio Site - Full Width page layout.
  4. Click the Save Changes button to save content as a draft, or press the arrow and select Save and Approve to save and publish updates.

Best practices

  • Avoid linking to social media pages that are rarely updated or inactive—it can reflect poorly on your site’s credibility
  • Double-check URLs to ensure you’re linking to verified or official pages representing your team, department, or organization
  • Only include platforms where you actively engage with your audience

By now, you should feel comfortable adding social media icons to your Studio Site page and linking them to active, official accounts to help promote engagement and extend your digital presence across platforms.
