How to Use Profiles

The profile content type is one option to highlight people on a website. Each profile is displayed as a separate "profile card" on the page. In this module, you will learn how to add a profile to a page.

Instructions

From the T4 Site Structure, navigate to the page you are updating.

How to add profiles to a page

Click the Add Content button.
Select Profile from the list of content types.
Use the following content elements:
- Name: Add descriptive name of content type to be used within T4 Site Structure.
- Main heading: Optional, used to add a main H3 heading above a group of multiple profiles.
- Main description: Optional, used to add a main description (sentence or paragraph) prior to a group of multiple profiles.
- Slider: Select Yes to add clickable arrows page visitors can use to manually scroll through a minimum of four consecutive profiles.
- Profile Name: Required, used to add the name of the featured person.
- Profile Title: Optional, used to add featured person's title.
- Profile Description: Add the main content of the profile (could be a quote, contact information, etc). Learn more about formatting text in T4.
- Profile Image: Click Select Media to navigate to the image for the profile card that has been uploaded to the T4 Media Library. The profile card uses CDN PXL, so you do not need to resize the image prior to uploading it to the T4 Media Library.
- Sub Heading: Use to add an optional sub heading.
- Sub Description: Use to add an optional sub description.
- Open link in new tab: Select Yes to have the link open in a new tab.
- External Profile Link: Add a link to an external research profile like this one on mayoclinic.org. Default link text is "View full profile."
- Internal Profile Link: Only use to link to a different page on your site with a full biography or additional information on the featured person.
- Use default link text: Checked by default. Unselect checkbox if you'd like to write custom text for the link.
- Custom Link Text: Add custom text for the profile link.
- Person ID: Do not use. This option will be available in the future but is not currently ready.
Click the Save Changes button to save content as a draft, or press the arrow and select Save and Approve to save and publish updates.

Best practices

To maintain a balanced layout, always feature at least two profiles
For only one person, consider using a different content type like Fifty Fifty or Tile to better suit the design
Display profile cards in a two-by-two grid for a clean, consistent look
If you have four or more profiles, use the slider option to keep the layout compact while allowing users to scroll through the profiles
Use consistent formatting for each profile (e.g., photo size, text formatting) to ensure a uniform appearance across all cards

Examples of the content type

Persons Name

Title (Optional)

A variety of information can be included in the profile description field. This could include a quote from the featured person, educational highlights, research interests, or contact information.

A 512x512 image of the person being featured should be included in the profile.

Sub heading

Optional sub heading and sub description can be added.

Dr. Chirila is a core faculty member. He has a special interest in medical education, systems-based practice, and health care administration, with emphasis on resource utilization and clinical documentation. He oversees the outpatient rotations in general internal medicine.
