What is education research?
We use the term “education research” to refer to a broad class of research focused on understanding and improving teaching and learning in health professions fields.
- Our staff and senior awardees have expertise in many areas of education research including research design, assessment, survey research, and quantitative and qualitative methods.
- We support Mayo Clinic researchers who are investigating a wide range of education and social science topics related to teaching and learning in particular contexts within the health professions. These include professional identity formation, best practices for AI integration in medical education, methods for evaluating learner motivation and belonging, physician humility and its role in patient care, clinical decision-making and disease management, and the development of teaching self-efficacy.
